Life on the Edge
This essay looks at some of the themes from my PhD. It was published in the Summer 2019/20 issue of Meanjin.
Mortal Sins
Mortal Sins was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and published in Best Australian Stories 2013.
“The most striking - in many ways the most successful - of these stories is the work of a writer unknown to me: Sinead Roarty. With a wry, sometimes macabre, but never heartless humour, Mortal Sins traces the relationship between Erin, an elderly lady who loves going to funerals, and her 50-year-old daughter, the nervously proud mother of a pair of in-vitro twins.”
Andrew Riemer, Sydney Morning Herald, December 21, 2013
“Another conspicuous aspect of this anthology is the scarcity of overtly humorous tales. Sinead Roarty's Mortal Sins and Eric Yoshiaki Dando's The Eulogy are the only truly comic offerings.”
Anne Parton, The Australian, December 28, 2013
